Portfolio expansion at the start of the year: New trade fairs focusing on protection of critical infrastructures and security technology

Recent attacks on critical infrastructure, such as the power supply in Berlin, have made it clear that further crisis prevention measures are urgently needed. It is also becoming increasingly important for companies and public authorities to invest in security technologies and solutions. This year, there will be two new trade fairs dedicated to these topics: trade fair organiser AFAG will host KRIFA Münster – Conference and Exhibition Safety and Crisis Prevention – for the first time in 2026 (15 + 16 July) and has added the SicherheitsExpo Alpe Adria in Klagenfurt, Austria, (14 + 15 October) to its calendar. Both trade fairs fit into the portfolio of AFAG, which already organises the Security Trade Fairs “SicherheitsExpo” in Munich and Berlin, among others.

Nuremberg – The managing directors of Nuremberg trade fair organiser AFAG see the portfolio expansion as an important step in responding to current requirements, according to Henning and Thilo Könicke: "The recent attacks on critical infrastructure in particular show how important it is to position ourselves for the future in this area now. This applies to public authorities and agencies as well as industrial plants, energy suppliers, banks, hospitals, transport and trading companies, railway stations, airports and museums. But investments in security technology are also essential for businesses. Together with competent partners, we are now creating a new platform at short notice to further advance the protection of critical infrastructure."

KRIFA Münster: 15th + 16th July 2026

KRIFA Münster took a break for several years. Now, the Federal Association for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (BSKI) and AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH are reviving this important event for prevention, crisis management, civil protection, fire services, police, rescue services, aid organisations, healthcare and the relevant civil emergency response and security authorities in the Münsterland region. On 15 and 16 July, KRIFA – Conference + Exhibition Safety and Crisis Prevention – will take place at the MCC Halle Münsterland, with many highly interesting speakers, exhibitors and the opportunity to participate in workshops. The KRIFA congress focuses on topics related to crisis management, security and prevention. As a networking platform, the event offers an important point of contact for personal and professional exchange.

SicherheitsExpo Alpe Adria: 14th + 15th October 2026

On 14 and 15 October, the SicherheitsExpo Alpe Adria will take place in Klagenfurt in Austria for the first time, joining the successful series of SicherheitsExpo events. The trade fair concept, which has been established and successfully implemented in Munich for 23 years, was expanded to Berlin in 2025. Now, the trade fair for the security technology industry offers trade visitors from Austria, Slovenia and north-eastern Italy an additional platform.

The managing directors of trade fair organiser AFAG, Henning and Thilo Könicke, see this move to Austria as an important opportunity: "The new location in Klagenfurt will enable exhibitors to present their innovative solutions to a broader international target group and further promote exchange between experts from the region and the entire DACH and Southern Europe region. This expansion represents another important step in the continuous development and networking of the security industry and offers new market opportunities."

The Alps-Adriatic region encompasses the Austrian provinces of Carinthia and Styria, the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Republic of Slovenia. The Alps-Adriatic region is home to over 5 million people and is the location of more than 8,000 industrial and manufacturing companies.
